Chairman’s Newletter April 2021

Welcome To the April Newsletter,

At long last the Juniors are back to playing table tennis, and it won’t be long before we welcome back the senior players.

We have started two Junior Coaching sessions with Adam Proszko on Mondays and Thursdays from 6.00 – 8.00pm. With limited size of groups our first priority was to get our regular junior players back, so the Thursday session is by invitation only and most players have signed up for the half term block. Currently the Monday session is open to all and places can be booked via the website. We hope to add a Friday beginner session in the near future.

Open practice is limited to players from the same household (adults and juniors) Two players from the same household can book a table on Mondays and Thursdays if space is available.

Mondays        6.00 – 8.00 pm          open to all abilities, members and non members

Thursdays      6.00 – 8.00 pm          for our regular juniors, invitation only

If the government guidelines keep to the dates set out, then Open Practice on Mondays and Fridays will resume on Monday 17th May, booking and payment will be done via the website in the same way that we did in the Autumn term. No earlier than Monday 21st June we hope to return to something more like a full timetable, but as always it’s wait and see.

We have heard from Testwood that all lettings during the Summer Holidays will be cancelled due to major works upon the heating system. This means that we will be looking for an alternative venue in the Summer Holidays that can house at least 4 tables, hopefully more. I would be grateful to anyone who has any ideas and can assist us in our search for premises. We can always transport some of our tables to a venue, please let me know if you can assist with transport.

This obviously means that we will not be able to stage a Summer League this year, but hopefully the STTA League will resume in its usual format starting on Monday 4th October.

Please keep an eye on our website to look for any more updates. In the meantime if there is anything that you would like to know please do not hesitate to contact me.
