Welcome to the August Newsletter,

Monday and Friday practices are going well. This was initially very difficult to set up to ensure that we complied with all the Health and Safety Guidelines. I need to say a big thankyou to Jeff for being ever present and making sure that we are doing all the right things. Our last session in the holidays will be Monday 31st August. Please e mail me if you want to come to practice, you will need to book a place.

  • We currently don’t know if we will be able to continue practising in September when the schoolchildren return.
  • Following current TTE guidelines it would be very difficult to set up and pack away each night with all the extra equipment and precautions needed.
  • We are only able to play in the holidays since we can leave everything set up.
  • We await to see if guidelines are relaxed (TTE announcement mid Aug ? …..)

  • TTE announced last week that in September we are moving into Stage 3 – Preparing for a Return to League Table Tennis. The emphasis is very much on PREPARING.

STTA AUTUMN LEAGUE (2 a side – no doubles)

  • STTA committee decided to organise an Autumn League consisting of 2 person teams (no doubles) this will start in October or November.
  • Clubs have been asked to submit teams by 15th September.
  • If you want to play in the 2 a side Autumn League please let me know asap.
  • If you can organise your own team of two, or squad of three, then that makes it easier for us. If not we can match you up with a player of the same ability.
  • Likely to be played at Testwood on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

STTA SPRING LEAGUE (3 a side – no doubles)

  • STTA will organise what will in effect be half a season of the STTA League starting after Christmas. We have to decide upon our teams in November.

As I said earlier we still do not know if we will continue to practise at Testwood when term starts again in September. I will keep you informed of any developments. Please do let me know if you want to play in the Autumn league
